HISTORY: The Old Jail Museum will be 100 years old in 2012. Flat Rock Campground, over 100 years old,still hosts annual revivals. Rock Ridge Baptist Assembly has been restored and hosts church organizations, conferences, and meetings. Brush Creek Park is a county maintained park with a manager on duty and hookups for campers, RV's, etc. Snake Creek Park, formerly a state park, is maintained by the county with a boat ramp and picnic facilities.

RECREATION: Heard County has a new 150 acre sports complex, a new 150,000 sq. ft. Covered Arena and a Skate Park. The City of Franklin has a city park with playground equipment and covered benches. The Town of Centralhatchee boasts a city park with a playground, ball fields, tennis courts, pavilion, and bathrooms. A scenic Greenway Trail winds along the Chattahoochee River north of Franklin with is a Labyrinth dedicated by the Art Association.

EVENTS: On Independence Day, a celebration hosted by the Chamber of Commerce has fireworks, arts and crafts, food and music on the square. The City of Franklin hosts "A Chattahoochee Christmas" with arts and crafts, a parade, food, and entertainment.

INFRASTRUCTURE: The Heard County Water System is just one of the many amenities offered to businesses and industry. The Heard County School System built a new elementary school, middle school and three-story high school, and remodeled schools in other communities.
